As extreme weather, biodiversity loss, and market volatility expose the fragility of globalized industrial agriculture, urgent questions arise: How can we build resilient, democratic, and climate-adapted food systems? What role can agroecology, farmers’ knowledge, and local governance play in shaping sustainable futures?

This event will examine food sovereignty as a justice-based response to the climate crisis – an approach rooted in agroecology, seed diversity, farmers’ rights, and community control over food systems. By reconnecting climate action with struggles for land, biodiversity, and democratic governance, we will explore concrete pathways toward systemic transformation.

MASIPAG is a farmer-led network in the Philippines promoting agroecology, seed sovereignty, and farmers’ rights. For over three decades, it has worked to strengthen locally rooted, climate-resilient food systems through collective action and farmer-to-farmer knowledge exchange.
