About Unity Foundation
Unity Foundation is a Luxembourgish non-profit organization committed to the empowerment of communities through education. As an accredited non-governmental organization, all its projects are co-financed by Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) under a five-year framework agreement, covering approximately 75% of costs, with the remaining 25% covered through funds raised by the organization. Unity Foundation partners with a network of local partners in Latin America and Africa, supporting their efforts to build the capacity of their communities to take charge of their own development.
Context of the Role
Unity Foundation is strengthening its fundraising capacity to sustain, systematise and grow its impact. Building on the organisation’s existing fundraising structures and strategic approach, the Fundraising Officer will bring a strong outward-facing dimension to the team’s work. The role focuses on outreach, engagement and execution — helping to expand Unity Foundation’s network of supporters, cultivate partnerships, and translate fundraising opportunities into support for the organisation’s mission.
Main Responsibilities
Donor Outreach & Engagement
• Proactively identify and engage potential donors and partners across all donor segments (individuals, companies, foundations, public bodies), while leveraging personal and professional networks to expand UF’s supporter base
• Represent Unity Foundation in meetings, presentations and public settings, conveying the mission and impact of UF’s work with clarity and conviction
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective supporters, ensuring consistent and meaningful engagement over time
• Create compelling outreach materials and tailored written communication to accompany donor approaches that speak to the interests of each audience and follow up diligently on all outreach and engagement activities to convert interest into commitment
Fundraising Campaigns & Events
• Plan, coordinate and animate fundraising campaigns and events, taking an active role in their delivery•
• Engage and motivate participants — whether students, volunteers, sponsors or the general public — through dynamic and inspiring communication, presentations and workshops in schools, companies and community settings
• Develop promotional content and communications to raise awareness of campaigns and maximise participation
• Contribute to the development of new and existing fundraising initiatives and formats, bringing creativity and initiative
Donor Management & Reporting
• Record all supporter interactions and contributions accurately in UF’s donor management system and maintain an up-to-date overview of active and prospective donors and fundraising commitments
• Contribute to continuous improvement of fundraising processes and support the development of the overall fundraising strategy
Candidate Profile
Essential
• A collaborative team player who values open dialogue, mutual learning, and shared decision-making
• A natural communicator and ambassador — confident in engaging and building rapport with diverse audiences, from the general public to senior decision-makers
• Genuine enthusiasm for Unity Foundation’s mission and development approach, with the ability to communicate its purpose, values and impact
• Outgoing and proactive: with strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and follow through reliably
• Comfortable in public-facing roles, including presenting to groups or facilitating workshops
• Demonstrates respect and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop trust-based, long-term relationships with donors
A strong asset
• Experience in fundraising, donor engagement, community building, outreach, partnership development or a related fields
• Prior experience in the non-profit sector or strong affinity with international development and education
• Familiarity with Luxembourg’s philanthropic, civic or business landscape
• Experience with donor or contact management software (CRM)
• An existing network of contacts in Luxembourg’s business, institutional or civic community
